Two for one
Last night I was accidentally listening to the Classic Rock satellite channel, and they did something I hadn’t heard on any satellite station before. They played a Beatle song (“Ticket to Ride”). And then, when that was done, they played another one (“Hey Jude”). I had to check the channel banner to make sure they hadn’t switched to the All Beatles channel. There used to be actual radio stations that played that format. (Really, children, it’s true.) But no, it was still Classic Rock, and the next two songs they played were by Genesis. Then two by ELO, two by the Cars. I was sensing a pattern here.
Today I checked the station, and apparently that’s the actual programming format. It’s a perpetual Two-for-Tuesday, at least on Saturday. While I was listening today, they played “Piano Man” and “Big Shot” back-to-back. I kind of like the idea of an all-Beatles channel, but I don't think the satellite company would buy the concept. Maybe after they shoot up a few more satellites, they'll have room for it.
