    Time Event
    10:50p
    Things can only get better
At least this week I was familiar with all of the artists on Hit Me Baby One More Time, even if I didn’t know most of the modern cover songs they all tried to do. I would have voted for Howard Jones, because he has aged really well. Not only does he look better without all that hair, but his voice sounds better now than back when he was a chart topper. His version of Dido’s “White Flag” sounded as if it could have been one of his own songs, and his own “No One Is to Blame” was the best performance of the night (in my inconsequential opinion).

It was Irene Cara who really rocked the house, doing her own “What a Feeling” and Anastacia’s “I’m Outta Love.” She was the audience favorite tonight, although I thought she and her group Hot Caramel were a little off key on the cover song. On the other side of the coin, Cameo’s funked-up version of Bowling for Soup’s “1985” was almost as amusingly awkward as Wang Chung doing “Hot in Here.” By the way, Sophie B. Hawkins also performed on this week’s show, which was an overall dropoff in quality from the last two weeks. I hope they’re not running out of has-beens.
