You don’t have to believe that American soldiers belong in Iraq to appreciate the sacrifice of the men and women who are there. But you might need to have been in a war to know what they’re going through, and what it means to them. I’ve never been in a war. (Surprised?) The closest I ever hope to come is the new FX series
Over There, which (based on my total lack of experience) is as realistic a war drama as has ever been shown in your home in prime time. Why, sometimes things even go wrong, and people make mistakes. Imagine that! However realistic it is (and I’m no judge), it’s a powerful story of soldiers in a war zone who are also people with lives and families back home and hopes for the future. I sincerely hope they have futures and that they come home, all of them, sooner rather than later.
