Hinckley's flight plan
Not being a judge or a psychiatrist, I have no way of knowing if John Hinckley is a danger to society, 24 years after shooting Ronald Reagan to impress Jodie Foster. My feeling is that keeping him locked up isn’t an altogether bad thing, but the reason the government is giving for not letting him visit his parents’ home for extended periods is that he’s “
delusional about women.” Apparently he thinks that if a woman is nice to him, or even looks him in the eye, it means that she’s interested. Excuse me, but if that’s the criterion for insanity, we are a nation of nutcases, and every corner bar is a branch office of the loony bin. I’m just saying. That might not be the strongest argument for keeping Hinckley locked up.
