    Time Event
    9:12p
    Surface
The most realistic thing that’s happened in the entire eleven episodes of Surface was tonight when Keith Olbermann made fun of the sea creature on Countdown. That’s something that would really happen. Not that I don’t love the show, because I do. What I love is how seriously it takes itself, from the boat-swallowing monster to Miles and his electric relationship with Nim.

It’s all so strange and fantastic that if it didn’t take itself seriously, it wouldn’t be worth watching any more than a live-action version of SpongeBob SquarePants would be (and no thanks to that). And that’s also why Olbermann’s sarcastic reaction to Daughtery’s video was such a perfect way to bring the monster to the public’s attention.

What I didn’t like about tonight was at the end of the show, when they announced that there were only four episodes left. Come on, NBC, you promised us a full season’s run.
