Rose Bowl
I know that defense wins championships, but for most of the first half of tonight’s highly hyped Rose Bowl, it seemed that was all we were going to see from two allegedly powerful offensive teams. Luckily for those of us who are not especially rabid college football fans, things picked up dramatically as the game went on, and we got the slugfest we were promised. For the record: Texas ended USC’s run of two straight national championships with a heart-stopping, last-minute, come-from-behind
41-38 victory. And by way of observation: Keith Jackson calling tonight’s game on ABC reminded me a little bit of Dick Clark on New Year’s Eve. Dick had his Ryan Seacrest, and Keith had his Dan Fouts. Lucky for him.
