    Survivor: Exile Island-Breakdown
By losing immunity tonight, Casaya had a chance to help themselves out. They could drop their weakest member and pick up Bruce, who is a strong, solid competitor. After watching this group at Tribal Council, I wonder if Bruce wasn’t tempted to say “no thanks.” He might be better off on Exile Island than stuck with Shane and his bad attitude. It’s amazing that the guy who doesn’t want to be there is the one everyone else is letting call the shots.

On the other hand, Shane does make things interesting (or at least dramatic). I mean, what would Lost be without Sawyer, right? But I have no sympathy for a guy who puts himself in that position, knowing what he’s getting into, and immediately tries to bail. “It’s monotonous and it’s hard.” Oh, really? What a shock.

I had a feeling there would be an early shake-up in the tribal structure, but I didn’t think it would be this soon. Four tribes of four is a bit of an unwieldy system, and it’s stacked too much against the tribe that loses its first member. It would have been hard to conduct another challenge that way.

When they picked new tribes, it was still so early in the game that no one could have known much about anyone else’s value. That’s why Shane was picked first, even though he was the outcast among the Older Men. The Younger Men, on the other hand, were so useless as a group that they were probably saved by the reshuffle.

It’s not surprising that the younger players were picked first, but each of the new tribes ended up with four younger people and three older ones. It’s a little hard to predict how things will go, but La Mina has won the first two challenges. What’s not surprising about that is that Shane is on Casaya.
