I could not ask for more
Judging from the performances of the top twelve men tonight, this season’s American Idol winner is going to be a woman. Maybe that’s why there were three times as many girls as guys put through to Hollywood. Some that I liked in the auditions, like Sundance Head and Sanjaya Malakar, have been terrible ever since. Some that the judges seem to think are great, like Paul Kim and Chris Sligh, don’t do much for me. I was actually going to vote for Chris, though, until he talked back to the judges. I don’t like that, especially when it isn’t funny. I ended up voting for Phil Stacey, the last singer of the night, just because he stood out from the others. His performance was uneven, but at least it was memorable. Until that point my favorite had been beat boxer Blake Lewis, whose voice I liked even though I didn’t like his song choice. That seemed to be the way it went tonight, though. Those who could sing picked terrible songs, and those who did songs I liked didn’t do them justice. I’m really hoping for better things from the girls tomorrow night.
