Another paper emergency
I don’t like Candice. Not the character on Heroes, but the idea of the character. She’s the one Person of Power that the others can’t protect themselves against. Jessica is dangerous, but Niki gets the upper hand on her every so often. Some that we were led to believe were villains have become heroic in their own way. H.R.G. makes a huge sacrifice to protect Claire, just as D.L. has turned out to be a protective father to Micah. We don’t know enough about Linderman yet to characterize him as hero or villain, although having the FBI agents killed doesn’t look good on his résumé. Even Sylar can’t disguise who he is, and so with all his mind control ability he can’t manipulate a person’s thoughts and feelings, only their actions.

Candice is another story. She can appear as anyone else, it seems, so convincingly that she can fool a husband into believing she’s his wife. That’s not only a dangerous power, it’s also one that there’s no defense against. For me, that goes too far, and it needs to be clarified (or changed) quickly, because it makes the battle way too one-sided. It’s hard to care about who wins when you know that all the cards are stacked in one person’s favor. It’s something I’ll have to ponder between now and April 23 (!), the date of the next episode. Let’s hope she has a weakness that we haven’t seen yet.

One good thing happened tonight, though. Apparently that annoying lock of hair that kept getting in Peter’s eyes will no longer be a problem.
