Every rose has its thorn
If they took out all the words,
October Road might be a halfway decent show. I mean, they have great music, and some killer montages. The editing can’t be the best thing about a show, though. The way I see it, there are two kinds of dialogue that work. One is the way real people talk, which this show definitely doesn’t have. The other is something literate and poetic, but something that makes sense. The dialogue on
October Road is stilted, grating, indulgent and labored. It’s the kind of writing that got me A’s in eight grade, because I was a slightly advanced for my age, and D’s in tenth grade, because my teachers expected something better. I think I’m a little obsessed with this show because I wanted it to be good, and it just isn’t. Still, somehow I’ve watched the first two episodes, and will probably give it one more chance.
