    Time Event
    9:13p
They probably didn’t stop to get fruit
As obnoxious as Charla and Mirna are, they were the only team to take a risk on tonight’s leg of The Amazing Race, and it paid off for them. I’m going to have to start giving them credit for being smart, even if I don’t like the way they treat people. And I’m not talking about the other competitors, but about the native people in the countries they visit, because they are never anything but condescending, as if they were somehow superior. They can’t possibly keep coming in first, can they? I did see a different side of them on the boat ride with Oswald and Danny. If Oswald and Danny like them, they can’t be that bad.

Uchenna and Joyce, on the other hand, are respectful of the people they encounter, and they’ve always been appreciative of the culture and history of the lands they visit. So it was good to see them overcome being marked for elimination and move up to third place. It was weird how they did it, though. Usually the early stage of any leg of the race is designed to bunch the teams up, but this time the travel problems split them into three groups of two teams and one team, Eric and Danielle, competing on their own. It must have been a strange feeling to go through all the tasks and challenges without having their competitors in sight.

I’m still hoping that Charla and Mirna lose, but if they keep winning, I’m going to have to accept that they are a strong team. Maybe I’ll learn to like them as much as I did the first time I saw them race.
