The pigs are walking
What was the best part about tonight’s episode of
Lost? Was it the wealth of back story elements, like Nikki and Paulo finding the plane in the tree and the Pearl hatch, and Sun learning it was Sawyer and Charlie who kidnapped her? Was it the fast-forward romp through the entire three months or so that the castaways have been on the island, starting in the airport before the plane took off? Was it seeing the lost, dead characters, like Boone and Shannon and Arzt and Ethan, come back to life? Or maybe it was the horror movie ending, worthy of John Carpenter channeling Stephen King. Whatever it was, it was the best episode of the series since season one.
And it had the best one liners, beginning to end. Hurley says that Nikki’s show
Exposé was “like
Baywatch only better.” Locke tells Paulo, “Things don’t stay buried on this island.” (And wouldn’t Paulo hope that’s true, now?) Hurley says to Desmond, “No offense, dude, but as far as superpowers go, yours is kinda lame.” The dialogue tonight had me cackling and clapping from beginning to end, and the whole episode almost made up for the mind-numbing focus on the Others that has made some of this season a little tedious. Tonight we were reminded of why we fell in love with
Lost in the first place.
