Prepare the passengers for the nose dive
I gained a lot of respect for Charla and Mirna on tonight’s episode of The Amazing Race: All-Stars when they were the only team to choose the humanitarian air drop Detour, instead of taking the easy way out and scouring a B-52. I’m glad they weren’t the ones eliminated tonight, because it would have been the consequence of making that decision. They still drive me nuts with their phony accents, but they finally convinced me that they really believe it helps them to be understood. That kind of sincerity deserves its own special reward.

I was sorry to see Danny and Oswald go, but they made too many wrong turns and got lost too often, so it’s not likely they were going to win even if they had made the final three. Dustin and Kandice are still my favorites, and I think they’ve been maligned by the other teams simply for playing the game to win. They’ve worked hard and done what they had to do to stay on top, and I think they can do it for one more leg. Even if Eric and Danielle win, though, it’ll be okay. Their relationship has been strained a bit by the stress of the race, but whose wouldn’t be? At least they’ve kept their sense of humor through it all, and that counts for something.
