    Time Event
    9:39p
Try to have her expand her mind beyond the fossilization
On The Amazing Race, you never know when karma is going to come home to roost (or whatever), but it almost always gives teams what they deserve. On tonight’s leg, Nicolas and Donald tried to talk the ticket agent in the Ouagadougou Airport into giving the other teams later flights. That didn’t happen, and they did become the first team to reach the first Route Marker in Vilnius, but it was all downhill from there. Nicolas got lost on the streets of Vilnius and then didn’t read the Detour clue correctly the first time through. They were lucky to finish sixth out of seven, meaning they’ll start last on the next leg.

I’m glad something came out of our long stay in that airport, because for awhile it seemed that the whole episode would keep us there. Ronald and Christina were flummoxed by the communication gap and got on the last flight into Vilnius, and yet they started moving up right away. I have to admit that when Ronald decided to test his hernia on stilts, I thought they had handed the other teams a free pass on this leg. As much as he irritates me at times, I have to give him credit for sticking with it and finishing third tonight.

As for karma, well, let’s hear it for Shana and Jennifer, who tested it on the previous leg when they used the U-Turn on Lorena and Jason, and have been squabbling ever since. They couldn’t even agree on how to count fence posts tonight, and that argument probably cost them a chance to continue. By the time they got the right number, it was getting dark and they already knew they were last. It was one of the sweeter eliminations of this or any other season.
