I’m amazed they’re still alive, poor things
If I ever thought that Cirie had played the wrong hand at the wrong time on
Survivor: Micronesia, I guess I was the one who was wrong. She proved tonight that she’s still in control. If experience tells us anything (and this is still a game of Fans and Favorites, so they should know), they’re a long way from any merge. That means they still need strong players to win challenges. Somehow, despite all that, Cirie tonight managed to convince Ozzy to vote out Malakal’s biggest, strongest player, Joel. Now who’s going to help Ozzy win? Chet? (Or Erik, or Tracy? At least he still has Amanda and Ami.)
I give equal credit to Chet for the bold move tonight, because he was the one who approached Cirie with the plan to talk Ozzy into going after Joel. Ozzy and Joel had made a deal to vote out Chet, then Cirie, then Tracy. Suddenly those three are the power players on Malakal, something that was kind of unforeseeable when they switched tribes. Despite the presence of Ozzy on Malakal, Airai looks like a much stronger tribe, top to bottom. I can see them running the table and forcing Ozzy to use his hidden Immunity Idol before any merge even takes place. I know he thought he could trust James and Parvati when he told them he had the Idol, but it was a dumb thing to do anyway. He knows how fast the game can change.
Still, despite the fact that it makes no sense to anyone but the ones who would have been voted out instead, Joel’s ouster pleases me. I always like seeing the arrogant power players who think they’re in complete charge get blindsided that way. Joel did it to Mikey B. (twice, if you count Mary), and now Ozzy and company have done it to him. My hope for this season is that each person voted out tells us they didn’t see it coming. And then Chet and Kathy make the final two.
