    Time Event
    10:16p
    Something weird for sale
For the first time, I think I’m going to be sad to see someone going home this week on So You Think You Can Dance. With that being said, I definitely had my favorites, and I think I know which couples I want in the bottom three. Those would be the three I didn’t vote for.

The first, surprisingly, is Comfort and Chris, whom I’ve been championing since week one. Unfortunately, I don’t think they’ve ever been as good as they were that first week, and their deficiencies as performers are starting to show. I don’t think they’re an especially well-matched pair, and I don’t think they were well served at all by the music they danced to tonight.

The other two couples I didn’t vote for weren’t bad, either, but in their cases I’ve had trouble connecting with them since the start of the competition. I actually liked the weird contemporary routine that Kourtni and Matt did, and I didn’t even mind their strange costumes, but for some reason I just don’t feel moved to vote for them. And it’s pretty much the same with Chelsea and Thayne, although I think they looked great tonight. I loved Chelsea the first week, but I haven’t seen any growth, and their quickstep tonight was just okay.

On the positive side, I was very happy to see Courtney and Gev do so well with the rumba, because I’ve enjoyed watching these two together. Katee and Joshua are an adorable couple with all the moves, and they did a samba that gave them a chance to show their versatility. I’m not sure they needed it, because they do well no matter what the style, but I think they both proved something to themselves tonight. I’ve often said that disco is the kiss of death, but Jessica and Will are probably safe this week, because that was the best disco I’ve seen on the show. I adore Jessica, but I don’t know how you could watch that routine and not keep your eyes on Will, who really sold it.

There were two hip hop routines tonight, and I enjoyed them both. Kherington and Twitch led off the show with one of the most entertaining performances of the season. They are so good together, and they are both so good looking, that even if they didn’t dance well, they’d be fun to watch. (But they did.) Still, my favorite performance of the night (by far, actually) was the lyrical hip hop by Chelsie and Mark. It’s the only one I watched three times, because it was so mesmerizing, so emotional, and so spot on in every single move. It was absolutely riveting from start to finish. I’m going to post this now and go watch it again.
